Buildings & Navigation aids
Buildings
The Seine station has several buildings and a fleet of around 50 vehicles distributed between the various ports served (Le Havre, Rouen, Caen and Dieppe).
This organisation ensures a rapid and continuous response, in all conditions, to guarantee the safety of manoeuvres and the fluidity of maritime traffic.
Navigation aids
To optimise the navigation of vessels on the Seine, pilots rely on Portable Pilot Units (PPUs).
These devices provide a real-time display of the vessel’s position, superimposed on a detailed map of the river, including soundings, buoyage, bridges and other landmarks essential for navigation. They also display dynamic data such as tides, current speed and AIS targets.
Thanks to their accuracy, PPUs make port manoeuvres and guidance in narrow channels easier.
Used in conjunction with onboard equipment, they help to enhance navigation safety.
Today, these tools have become an essential part of modern river navigation, playing an active role in the continuous improvement of accuracy and traffic management on the Seine.
